These Japanese symbols represent Zuiko (the name of all Olympus high-quality lenses) and can be translated to mean 'Golden Light' ‐ they were first used on a Street Case designed by Stylonylon, and now form the inspiration behind our first collection of lifestyle items for Olympus photographers. The first 'Zuiko'-branded lens was a 75mm F4.5 lens fitted to the Semi-Olympus I in 1936. The name Zuiko (瑞光) uses characters from the Mizuho Optic Research Laboratory (瑞穂光学研究所) where the lens was developed.
